As you are a valued customer of Dot Com Media Group, we want to share some valuable information about some changes to websites around the world.

If you have been on the internet in the last few months or so, you’ve already heard about GDPR which has changed the way websites must get your consent for cookies, privacy, and use of your data.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a new law passed by the EU (European Union) that mandates every website to follow some requirements effective May 25, 2018. The fine for violating these requirements is as high as 4% of your entire annual sales - whether or not you sell, communicate, or market to anyone in the EU.

Basically, any website that can be viewed by anyone in the European Union (which is ALL websites as it is difficult to turn off who can visit your website) needs to include some basic elements to protect your visitor's private information including cookies.

• If people from European Union can visit and interact with your site, you need to be compliant.
• If people from EU can sign up as leads on your site, or give you their data in any other way, you need to be compliant.
• If your site makes use of any cookies or has any 3rd party integrations that uses cookies (Facebook pixel, analytics etc.)
• It doesn’t matter whether you sell anything to EU people or not. If they can access, you need to be compliant.
